Using Google Maps App in Lviv

My Airbnb is only a 10 minute walk from Rynok Square at the Center of the city. So getting around should be no challenge. Unfortunately my sense of direction is famously flawed and the map app would tell me to turn left, however the street name it was indicating did not match the name I was reading.  The result was a walk closer to 30 minutes.  I wasn’t thrilled with my disorientation, yet I was able to remain calm. Until I can learn landmarks, I won’t be venturing out far after dark.

I was happy to have this sweet guy greet me when I found my way home.

Lviv is an amazing city. I am so grateful to be able to spend 2 months here. Today I only had a small taste of what you can see here.

I won’t be able to sample all the coffee shops, but do plan to revisit this sweet place called Фацет/Fatset. Cozy, pleasant atmosphere with friendly staff. I didn’t sample today, but they have soups, sandwiches, cheesecake and homemade spirits.

In addition to my mild place/topographical blindness. In other words I get lost a lot. I experienced an actual one eyed blindness. Still trying adjust to contacts, think I smudged one lense with moisturizer. So I just caught a small sample of what was happening in Lviv today.

About Babs

I'm a narrative sculptor navigating her way through the ever-changing currents in what feels like an art ocean. Whether appreciating the calm rhythm of calls for art and exhibiting, or waiting to catch a big wave of inspiration to take me to the top. I just love being in the water. Formerly a pickle packer, theater major, crisis counselor and occupational therapist with a BA in Communications and a BS in Occupational Therapy, only to discover I've always been an artist. My work grows from a strong connection to people and a passion for discovering the beauty in ordinary things. I sculpt figuratively in clay, utilizing the female form and women’s themes. Frequently my inspiration is drawn from childhood memories and my own short poems. Like each of us as humans every work is uniquely influenced by the past and present and has a narrative.
