Riverside Arts Center, a glimpse at the gallery for Mary Bachman Retrospective.
Mary Bachman has been making and exhibiting art for many years. A former art teacher and weaver, her skills as an artist encompass a range of media beyond weaving; including oil painting, watercolor, pastels, casein, colored pencil, graphite, photography, pottery and sculpture. She likes to call herself an “all media artist.”

- “Dusk” oil painting by Mary Bachman
- “Water Lilies” oil painting by Mary Bachman
- “United” clay sculpture by Mary Bachman
Her retrospective at the Riverside Arts Center in Ypsilanti is a delight of color in range of styles and subjects. Her landscapes feel personal. Viewing them you can almost imagine visiting these places with Mary.

“Trio” bronze sculpture by Mary Bachman
I was especially drawn in by her sculptural pieces. The bronze titled “Trio” is my favorite. In this piece she has created a balance between realism and abstraction. Viewing the sculpture we clearly see how these women are closely connected yet maintain individuality. What a beautiful metaphor for our friendships

Thanks for this fantastic write-up, as I’m not going to make it to her exhibit before it’s over. So happy you included photos! 🙂
It is a wonderful exhibit. And amazing the way her work fills the gallery.
wow! Very talented artist.
It’s great inspiration to see an artist continue to grow creatively throughout her life.
