Getting Ready for the Holidays

Can’t believe it’s been a month since I’ve posted.  So much for my goal of posting once a week.  I’m getting ready for the holidays.  Making art for Gift-Fests 11th year.  If you are interested in getting affordable made in Michigan gifts purchased directly from the artist this is your one stop shopping place.  I’m still working out some of my gift items.  I’ll post photos here once I’ve committed to my new design.  Hope to see a lot of people there.

Women’s Caucus for Art

Lucy Lippard is an internationally known writer, curator and art critic.  From the Center, the title of one of her 18 books provided the inspiration for the theme of the Women’s Caucus for Art (WCA) upcoming exhibit.   She is also the juror for the exhibit.  Woman Made Gallery in Chicago will house the exhibition opening January 22 and running until February 25, 2010.

The piece pictured is the one I just completed in time to enter the juried competition.  The artist notifications won’t be sent until November 17th.  Instead of waiting to find out if it is accepted.  I decided to post my entry now.  It would be great if I could get some feedback in advance.   It’s interesting to consider the value of a work of art prior to it receiving the stamp of approval by a juror.
