Blue moon over Rome

I thought I would share a few images that capture some of the flavor I tasted during our short time in Rome.

As the daylight faded the Friday night scene came alive. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at a restaurant in a piazza across from the French Embassy.

Then a stroll through piazza Novono, where you could feel people just absorbing every glowing moment of a beautiful blue moon evening.

Roma spelled backwards is amor. It’s hard not to fall in love with this city.

Random Rome, our second day

20120831-101518.jpg

Our second day isn’t over but I thought I’d try to write now, while tastes of “zuppa inglese” gelato still dance on my taste buds. Nothing should be allowed to taste that good.Tomorrow we will be busy traveling and getting settled in Prato.

After much discussion regarding the merits of the On/Off bus tours, we opted for walking again today.

We saw Trajian’s column, the Roman Forum, the Colosseum and the Spanish Steps. We also stumbled on this great place for paininis and smoothies called “Ginger sapori & salute” on Via Borogognona.

While walking we caught the romantic rhythms of musicians serenading patrons of various outdoor cafes. There were also a couple of creative street performers under the heading, “what were they thinking?” See them below.

First day on foot in Rome

20120831-021708.jpg

Above is my husband outside our hotel. Hotel Teatro di Pompeo. It’s a historic sight itself.

Hoping to make at least a semi coherent post. Our yesterday has become today without the sleep wake cycle to keep the beginnings and endings clear.

We spent the day touring Rome on foot.

There is so much to absorb here. My senses are overwhelmed. As we walk, I keep thinking I smell doughnuts, must be all the pasticcerias. Taking photos can't begin to capture all I'm seeing, but I try.

Below are are a few photos of highlights; lunch at Campo di Flori, Piazza Navona, The Pantheon, and Fontana di Trevi. I've been having some technical difficulties so hopefully they will appear in order.
